Thermal Imaging

Thermal Imaging is a non-invasive, non-destructive procedure involving the use of a special infra-red imaging camera with computer analysis to determine the amount of thermal energy(or heat) emitted from an object.

The images that these cameras produce are useful in assessing the operating temperature of components and determining if they are deteriorating and may be at risk of failure.

At risk electrical components are prone to excessive heat and are a frequent cause of failure and potential electrical fires, so thermal imaging is a useful preventative maintenance tool, saving time and money.

Melray Electric supply their own camera and have trained technicians available to carry out Thermal Imaging of your electrical components.

Upon completion of testing a full report is provided, including:

  • Colour photos, indicating the temperature scale and any hotspots detected.
  • Any potential problem areas are outlined.
  • Recommendations if any repairs are required.

These reports can provide useful information to insurance companies.
